Reps Courses
Bridgwater College, Somerset offer a one year course for those students who are interested in pursuing a career in the travel industry.
Students study for the Association of British Travel Agents Certificate (ABTAC) at primary level. This course is completed by having an end of year exam (70%) pass mark. Students study a variety of subjects, including: Locational Geography, The Travel Industry, Travel Legislation, Package Holidays, Car Hire, Insurance, Accommodation, Passport and Visas, Foreign Exchange, Administration, Finance and Security. Lufthansa Air Fares and Ticketing Course at level 1- divided into units of study.
At level 1 candidates will study: Airline, aircraft and city codes, Baggage allowance and excess baggage charges, Time zones and flying times, Normal, special and rebated fares, An introduction to the mileage system, Ticket issue and Multiple purpose documents. Students will take an end of year exam (80%) pass mark The NCFE Certificte for Resort Representatives. A course designed for students who would like to work as a transfer rep/resort rep/ski rep. This course is assignment led and is divided up into 7 units: The Travel Industry and the Role of the Resort Representative, The rep at the airport and hotel. Rep's duties on coach tours, Customer Care, Post Tour Duties and finally researching employment prospects. Entry to this course is subject to 4 GCSE's at grade c-e, though there are exceptions for mature students.
Students now have the opportunity to study for a further year and are taking ABTAC Advanced, BTEC Certificate for Resort Representatives (Children's couriers), and City and Guilds Level One Spanish. The college has its own travel agency, and organises visits and residential within the UK and overseas. Entry criteria is 5 GCSE's at c-e, mature students may be taken on without the appropriate qualifications We also offer a two year advanced vocational course (AVCE) which is for those students who want to gain a qualification equivalent to two a levels, suitable for those students who would like to go to university. entry requirements are 5 grades c and above.
Students also have the opportunity to utilise the mock air cabin. We are now offering two evening courses in association with our new partnership with Airtours, BTEC Advanced Certificate for Resort Representatives and for Children Couriers.
Entry to all courses is subject to an interview.
